Case story

Alan crafts high quality stories to keep his learners engaged and practice grammar

Meet Alan Fisher, a dedicated 1:1 English teacher who recently took a leap from corporate life back into an old passion. He has seen his teaching practice flourish and has managed to cope with it thanks to introducing Edumo. What started with a few students has now grown to a thriving fulltime practice, a testament to the engaging and personalized lessons he is able to craft.

Challenge

Alan provides tailored lessons and bespoke content, and as an author and poet he uses story telling. He was doing well with six students for a while, but as his student roster grew he started feeling swamped and discouraged. He realized that he spent too much time on preparation and it wouldn't be sustainable with the continued growth. At the same time he felt he didn't spend time enough to get the great, personalized and engaging content that he wanted.

Solution

As Alan started doubting his recent career choice he stumbled onto Edumo. The text generation AI assistant instantly spoke to him. He had tried using other AI chatbots and tools to create texts for his learners and reduce the preparation time, but the stories hadn't been satisfying and engaging enough. Now they started being what Alan wanted and he could work with Edumo and decrease his weekly preparation, while still creating bespoke and engaging content for his students.

Results

Time saving: Alan has cut his average weekly preparation time from 5 to 2 hours by using Edumo. He is primarily using Edumo as a tool for preparing texts, but it has also cut down the time to develop custom exercises. He has started using the homework aspect with especially his younger learners and wants to try out more of the recent additions in Edumo.

Managing variety: For Alan, Edumo provides all necessary styles, from everyday language to advanced academic texts. He also finds it easy to shape the outcome. From specifying a length, so it fits what he likes to read with his learners in lessons, over getting it to cite sources for professionals, to generating summaries and tailoring to specific frameworks like Cambridge or Trinity.

Episodic stories: Alan's younger learners started wondering about characters in his stories, and Alan embraced this to create a compelling, cohesive narrative about a young explorer traveling through a dangerous grammar world. His young learners are now excited and returning not only to enjoy Alan's company and teaching, but also to hear what's next for the explorer.

"Edumo has been a lifesaver. The ability to generate fresh, engaging stories and related exercises in minutes, has allowed me to focus on teaching rather than resource hunting."
